week of relaxation
This week has been very good to me because I'm been in good spirits in a forwarding thinking manner.

I've slept a lot, and watched some good tv. After the holidays all my tv shows start up again. New Desperate Housewives, Top Chef, and Grey's Anatomy was this week. Then soon will be new How I Met Your Mother, The Office, and LOST!

Band has been very good. I'm feeling the most confident I've ever felt in The FuDogs. The combination of getting back up into speed even with the once a week practice and post high from the Hometown Throwdown... either way I feel like taking on the world with my trombone. Once I actually start fucking practicing scales, tone, and some etudes from method study books I think I should be in excellent shape. Oh and some improv solo practice on my own. Once SMC Wind Ensemble starts up it should be good with band practice twice a week. Not to mention new awesome songs are really nice to play. Skaloween by The Skatalites and Wrong Em Boyo by The Clash. And Dave even wrote an original song. Things are really picking up. Oh yeah! We are definitely set to record a demo in February and then hopefully landing some gigs. So excited for the future of the band.

Also been dieting. I've been trying to drink close to a gallon of water a day, and cutting my appetite. Didn't realize I was overeating that much, because I've cut 1/2 to not feel hungry. Eating light makes me feel better too, since I don't feel very full or bloated as much. I also didn't realize I was that thirsty during the day. Worked out with Bert on Wednesday. It feels like a Biggest Loser type of thing, but no matter how out of shape I am it is beneficial for me to start anywhere. I am SOOOOOOoOOo out of shape. But with gradual steps, I'll get in shape and look good once again. I also signed up for my first krav maga class on Friday! I'll see how that goes. They are also having a sign-up bonus. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't want to continue the class if I get to punch stuff and work out at the same time, so I see myself plunking down the near $200 a month to get my ass into shape. Gives me something to do, and confidence about my life.

I now have a Shun Santoku knife... and damn is it amazing. Not only does it look awesome, it feels awesome and is very light weight. Everytime I take it out of the box it makes that *shing* sound which makes it sound all professional as well. Did I mention it was amazingly sharp? I used it to cut up some stuff for dinner and I felt like I was cutting through butter. Nothing in comparison to the amazingly dull knives that Shannon has in this apartment. I also have to say that a food processor is so amazingly handy. I just trimmed onions and garlic with my Santoku and then dropped it into the food processor and in 10 seconds they were perfectly chopped. I tried a new recipe for Salmon Florentine and it was pretty good:

Basically sautee onions and garlic in olive oil, drop in a big can of diced tomatoes and a bag of frozen spinach. Dashes of sea salt, freshly cracked pepper, and cayenne pepper for some kick. Get a baking dish and put some filet of salmon (I just used one to minimize meat intake) and then pour the spinach mixture on top. Sprinkle some cheese (I used mozzarella for extra saltiness) and bake for about 20 minutes. Because I did not marinate or salt the salmon is it bit plain but the spinach/tomato/cheese mixture is very flavorful to make up for it. Sooo tasty.
